sativa skye: Kuching Girl in Kunming (Part II): "Kunming has these bridges that allow bicycles to ride up to cross the road. And on top of these bridges - well, this particular one we used - there were peddlers selling handicrafts and fruits. One strawberry peddler was urging Pinky to buy in Mandarin. Pinky, being a Malay girl who doesn't understand a word of Mandarin, replied in English that she's not interested but would prefer his little rosy-cheeked son. There was one teenage girl who spoke English translated Pinky's words to the father. Pinky pointed to the son and naughtily said, 'Can I bring him home with me?'"
